Dancing Nieces
Allyse and Emily had a dance competition in Provo and so mom, Dave, Ellie, and I went to go watch they solo dances Friday night. They both did a wonderful job and Ellie loved every minute of it, she really likes to dance these days. I need to sign her up for a class.
Tulip Festival
Here are some pictures from our annual trip to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point Garden.
Trey is a SuperStar
On April 27, 2011 Maple Mountain High School held the first annual Nebo SuperStars track meet.
Races, softball throw, long jump and high jump events were held. And most important of all the 400m wheelchair race, which the one and only Trey Marshall was in.

I do have to say that I got a little choked up at times watching this track meet. It was absolutely amazing to watch these kids feel so important and happy doing these events. And as a mom of a special needs child it means the world to me that people make an effort, take the time, and engery to do something like this. It makes me so happy to see my child be able to participate in activities like this.
So to those of you who read this blog I would ask you to look at what you can do to help a child whether or not that child has special needs. It can be something small, because even though it may seem small to you, it is a big deal to that child.

Sunny
Meet Sunny, she came to us on April 19, 2011. We weren't planning on getting dog for another year but this opportunity came up. Sunny is a GoldenDoodle (Golden Reteiver and Poodle) and she is 2 yrs old.
A friend of mine called and asked if we were interested in another dog because her dad was getting remarried and moving to a condo that wasn't pet friendly. I asked how the dog was with kids and my friend said "well, let's put it this way, she lets the smaller grandkids ride her or try to!"
One night we had her come down to the house to meet her and see how she would be with the kids, she loved them and they loved her.
So Paul and I said what the heck, we were going to do it anyway, just a year sooner than we wanted.
Now it has been over a month and things are going well. She loves to play, especially fight play with Paul and Paul loves that!

Trey is a track star!
On April 27th, 2011 Maple Mountain High hosted the first annual Nebo SuperStar Track Meet.
These wonderful kids, grades 3 and up where invited to come run races, long jump, softball throw, and high jump. It was absolutely amazing. The weather held out and didn't rain, it was a little chilly when the sun went behind the clouds but it really turned out to be a good day for these kids.
The Athletic Director at Maple Mountain High, Dave Boyack, came up with this track meet and put it all together. Kids from the high school came out to help run, support, and cheer on these special kids.
Can't tell from this picture but he really was happy to be there and be outside.

You know, as a mom of a special needs child it is so neat when people will go out of there way to do something to include, love, support, involve, etc. our kids with activities and things they normally don't get to do. It means so much to Trey and these kids and I can't tell you how much it means to their parents.
Mr. Boyack didn't have to take the extra time from his own busy life to go out and get sponcers and t-shirts made and organize the whole thing, but he did and I thank him for that.

Brett gives to Japan
After the 3/11/11 9.0 magnitude earthquake of the shores of Sendai, Japan which triggered a huge tsunami, Brett came to Paul and I and told us he wanted to give some of his money to the people of Japan.
Oh, how proud we where of our boy at that moment! How thoughtful of a 5 yr old!
Brett can do EXTRA chores on Saturday's to earn a dollar. Out of that dollar he pays tithing and puts some into savings then the rest is his to do what he wants. Which is usually paying for games to be downloaded on Paul's or my IPad's. :)
The next Sunday I helped him fill out a tithing slip for the $3 donation and he handed the envelope to the bishop and I could tell he felt so good about it.
What an awesome boy!
