Pediatric Dentist

I love the dentist that works with my children, especially Trey! He has an amazing staff and they know their stuff.
My kids just had another check up on November 14. No cavities but we definately need to do better at flossing.
Trey's teeth are good at the moment. Still has enamel even though he grinds. He is a bit late loosing baby teeth but then he was late getting them in the first place. With him being born premature there are going to be teeth problems but we will deal with that when necessary. For now he is good.
Brett in May had to have 5 teeth pulled at once. One of those teeth was an extra tooth that didn't need to be there and was starting to cause problems. So his two top front teeth, then the tooth to each side of the front teeth came out. He was so brave! Then just weeks after that his two bottom front teeth fell out. In fact, one of the permanent teeth had already come through behind the baby tooth. So we had to get it loosened up fast and out of there. Then he gently worked the permanent tooth into position with his tongue. All of that before he was 6 yrs old.
So at this appointment he had a full panoramic xray taken. When the dentist showed us what was there and not there we knew immediately that our friendly neighbor orthodontist would be seeing Brett in the future. He does not have enough room in his mouth for all his permanant teeth!
Ellie's teeth are beautiful and great. No problems there.
So our dentist's office takes pictures of the kids that don't have cavities. And every six months when you go in for an appointment you get to take home the previous picture. I love this, I love to see how the kids have changed and grown even in six months!

Here is a story of a boy named Brett. Brett was 5 and very handsome. One day when this boy went to the dentist his mom and dad where told that he had an extra tooth. What!
Yep, an extra tooth, coming straight down in between his two front teeth. That would explain the gap becoming bigger over the last few months.
Plus this boy wacked his mouth on the swing set bar a couple of weeks before the dentist appointment and loosened his front tooth and shifted it over a little too.
The teeth have to come out or it will cause problems for his permanent teeth. "I also need to take out the two teeth next to the front teeth because the x-ray is showing the permanent front two teeth are bigger then the space that is there now." said the dentist.
That is a total of 5 teeth that need to go.

So Brett had his mommy take a picture of him the day before the teeth were pulled.
The day came, teeth pulling time. Brett was a little nervous but his dad helped distract him by trying to guess what the tooth fairy might bring for 5 teeth all at once.
Brett did great and it was over before we knew it. Even his mom and dad were surprised, they thought it was going to take some time.
Brett recovered really fast, felt good soon, no pain, and he went to his last day of preschool the next day.

May 27th, today he lost another tooth. One of his bottom ones had become loose fast and I was able to wiggle it a little and pull it right out! The tooth fairy makes another visit tonight.

Look Mom, No Cavities!

All three kids did amazing at the Dentist this morning. And best of all, no cavities. Brett was wonderful, he did his cleaning and had his exam and was just great. Trey was giggling about something while we were there, his exam was good for right now. He has a couple of things that will need to be worked on down the road but not right now. And last but not least, Ellie Jean was amazing. Both Paul and I thought we would have a fight on our hands but we laid her down on Paul's lap the dentist did the exam and she was so good to have him feeling her gums and teeth, etc. Don't let this picture fool you, she didn't cry or fuss the whole time he was messing with her mouth. This picture was taken as we were starting to sit her up and then she got fussy.

I love this dentist and his staff. They are good and he works with many other special needs kids too so I feel comfortable with him taking care of Trey's teeth.

We were in and out, then I dropped Trey off at school then Brett off at preschool and then Ellie and I had to stop at the office for a few minutes. Then Ellie and I came home and she took a nap. It was a good morning.
